You can easily buy an entry level Mini DV camcorder for around $250, a HD camcorder will set you back close to a $1000 and the most affordable HDD camcorder is around $500. The HDD camcorder will find it's place, but perhaps only in the professional or semi-professional video camera marketplace. HDD Camcorders work with a compact hard drive thus ditching all need for tapes and discs in favour internal disk drive. Generally there are a few types of storage mediums for camcorders, DVD camcorder, Mini DV tape, and HDD (Hard disk) camcorders.
