Qui Tam

The Qui Tam provision of the Federal Civil False Claims Act allows a private person to bring a lawsuit on behalf of the United States against a named defendant where the private person has information that the named defendant has knowingly submitted or caused the submission of false or fraudulent claims to the United States. The private person need not have been personally harmed by the defendant's conduct. Qui tam has been a very effective and successful tool in combating government procurement and program fraud. The qui tam provision has had the effect of privatizing government legal remedies by allowing private citizens to act as "private attorneys general" in the effort to prosecute government procurement and program fraud. In a nutshell, whistleblowers can combat fraud on the US government and receive a monetary reward using the Qui Tam provisions of the False Claims Act. By hiring a Qui Tam attorney, your chances of receiving a monetary reward for your whistleblowing are higher.
