Electropolishing
Electropolishing is an electrochemical process which brightens the steel surface by selective dissolution of the high points. The process is the opposite of electroplating, and is carried out with similar equipment. Electropolishing, sometimes called reverse electroplating, is an electrochemical process which polishes a metal surface by removing a thin layer of metal from the object. In electropolishing, the metal work piece is immersed in a temperature controlled bath of electrolyte and connected to the positive terminal (anode) of a DC power supply. Electropolishing can be a pretreatment for anodizing or a substitute for bright dipping. Electropolishing can clean, deburr, polish and remove rough edges from metal parts.
