Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy is a loss or deficiency of motor control with involuntary spasms caused by permanent brain damage present at birth. Cerebral palsy is a combination of conditions affecting muscle coordination and body movement and is caused by damage to certain areas of the brain usually occurring in the early stages of life or during development of the fetus. Cerebral palsy results from damage to motor areas in the brain controlling movement or posture rather than damage to individual muscles. Doctors diagnose cerebral palsy by testing an infant's motor skills and looking carefully at the infant's medical history. In addition to checking for slow development, abnormal muscle tone, and unusual posture, a physician can also perform a number of medical tests. If you or a loved one have suffered cerebral palsy as a result of injury, you can contact legal resources to help you evaluate your case.
