Paramedic Careers
A paramedic is a type of emergency medical technician or EMT. A paramedic is a trained and licensed or certified medical professional. Most paramedics respond to medical emergencies out in the field for the purpose of stabilizing the victim's condition so they can be transported to medical facilities. The paramedic provides on location care and care during transport to a nearby medical center. Formal training and certification is needed to become an EMT or paramedic. A high school diploma is typically required to enter a formal training program. Some programs offer an associate degree along with the formal paramedic training.
