Hospitalist

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of a patient while admitted to a hospital for a medical reason or surgery. The term hospitalist was first used by doctor Robert Wachter in an article written in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1996. Hospitalists represent one of the most rapidly growing forms of medical practice in the US.
